This new Red Dot sight by Kahles referred to as the Helia RD was recently released at the 2019 Shot Show. Designed primarily for driven hunts, it’s also ideal for close-in scrub hunting where point and shoot is the norm using lever actions and shotguns. In fact, on many European “driven hunts” they are attached to centrefire rifles for intuitive point and shoot hunts at close quarters, allowing the shooter to aim with both eyes open.
With a unique anti-reflective coating, for high image quality, the Helia RD offers a precise 2-MoA red dot for minimal coverage of the target area. In addition, the red dot offers four settings for different light conditions and an automatic “switch off’ function to conserve battery life. Another feature is the fact the battery compartment is on the side of the unit so you don’t have to remove the sight to change it and risk loosing zero.
Other features include an orange cap with integrated slot for a spare battery and choice of Picatinny mount (model 20018) or adaptor plate (model 20019) to suit your firearm. At the time of writing, I’m told the new Kahles-Helia RD will retail for around $590.00. Ask to see them at your Kahles authorised gun shop or visit www.kahles.at
