Massive elephant shot
Here we go again. In news from Zimbabwe, reported inThe Telegraphand the Daily Mail, a German hunter has shot the biggest elephant to be taken in Africa for over 30 years. The elephant’s whopping tusks weighed a combined 120 lb and the animal was estimated to be at least 40 years old. Wait for it…
Cat cull defended
In response to criticism from ex-actress Brigitte Bardot and singer Morrissey, The Australianreports that Australian Government has written an open letter defending its plan to cull 2 million feral cats. I’m not sure why anyone cares what those two think but it’s good to hear the plan will go ahead.
Deer hunter honoured for survival
This article from the Weekly Timesreports that a Victorian hunter has received an award from the SSAA after breaking his leg and being heli-lifted to safety. The Gippsland hunter broke his leg while deer hunting but was well prepared with an EPIRB and was able to summon help.
Katter on the Adler
Independant MP Bob Katter has spoken out about the Adler lever-action shotgun, calling for the temporary ban on importing the firearms to be overturned. This article in Perth Now also reports that Katter has bought himself a bow and arrow because he is worried the Government may ban guns altogether.
NZ gun imports
This article from the New Zealand Herald reports that 500,000 guns were imported in New Zealand over the last decade, bringing the total number of firearms across The Ditch to an estimated 1.5 million. Unlike our academics, a University of Canterbury criminologist has said it won’t have any effect on the safety of either the Police or the average New Zealander.
