Established in 2004, Vortex is a relative newcomer to the field of sporting optics. Yet the company is already offering a large selection of variable-power riflescopes, made in the Philippines, most of which are designed for tactical and target use. These include Razor HD, Viper PST, Viper HS, however, the Diamondback and Crossfire lines include a number of hunting scopes with one-inch tubes and lower-power ranges that I’d categorize as being better suited for hunting purposes.

The importer, ExtraVision, sent me four samples from the Viper PST range of Tactical scopes for review, a 1-4x24, 2.5-10x44, and a pair of 4-16x50 scopes, one of which had the reticle in the first optical plane. All four had 30mm tubes and hash-marked illuminated tactical-type reticles.

The Viper line of premium PSP scopes features 30mm matte- black one-piece body tubes of tough aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminium alloy with walls considerably thicker than those used in many comparable scopes. The range is particularly noteworthy because they combine custom uncapped elevation turrets with click values which match your rifle’s trajectory.
