SFFP Sam Romano secures unbelievable result in Orange

The Shooters, Fishers and Farmers performed strongest of all 13 groups in the primary Orange City Council vote. The major parties grossly underestimated the support Sam Romano received from the local vote.

Mr Romano said the team securing a combined 13.8per cent was an unbelievable result and feedback indicated voters were happy with SFF member for Orange Phil Donato.

The Central West Daily reported Mr Romano said the team securing a combined 13.8per cent was an unbelievable result and feedback indicated voters were happy with SFF member for Orange Phil Donato.

“We expected to get elected, but there could possibly be two or three on the team,” he said.

He said those successful after preferences would push a progressive agenda centred on securing more full-time jobs, particularly to ensure young people could stay in Orange, however he reserved judgement on the Orange Airport industrial proposal until he could find out more.

A developer in the past, he said criticism of real estate agents and developers was “rubbish” and all land development was subject to proper process.

Just 3464voters gave their first preference toan ungrouped candidate, compared to2012 when 4452 people voted for independents.
