It's time to decide who shooters' and hunters' best interests at heart and make it count at the polling booth.

Federal election policy guide at SSAA

The Sporting Shooters Association of Australia has donegreat work in collating the gun policies for each of the political partiescontesting the federal election on September 7, 2013.

Each party was asked by the SSAA for their views on privatefirearms ownership, sports shooting and recreational hunting.

The responses appear on the SSAA website and make forinteresting reading, while being an essential tool to help you make an informeddecision at the polling booth on election day.

Not surprising is the absence of the Greens who ignoredrequests for their policy, although there are no prizes for guessing what theirstance is, even if one of its own members sees that as more than a guidelinerather than strict party policy.

The two major parties both support competitive sportsshooting, but are cautious of offering anything amounting to advocating hunting, while the Australian Democrats are all for introducing more restrictive laws.

Meanwhile, there is solid support from The Nationals, the KatterAustralian Party, the Australian Fishing & Lifestyle Party and even theFamily First party, which advocates recreational shooting and hunting on publicland.

The Shooters and Fishers Party remains thestrongest representative for shooters and hunters rights.
