Labor's Acting Shadow Minister for Justice Graham Perrett has called for the importation ban on the Adler lever-action shotgun to be applied to the modified 5-shot gun as well.

Labor calls for Adler 5-shot to be banned

The Federal Labor party has called on the Turnbull Government to widen the year-long importation ban of the Adler 8-shot lever-action shotgun to also include the modified version of the firearm with its reduced magazine capacity of 5 shots, despite the modified firearm meeting current importation requirements.

According to a report in the ABC, Acting Shadow Minister for Justice Graham Perrett also called on the Turnbull Government to extend the ban until the National Firearms Agreement review is complete, citing extreme concerns over the firearm.

“The Liberal Government must immediately act to prevent these high powered and illegal weapons from being imported into Australia,” Mr Perrett said.

Meanwhile, for her part, Nationals Senator for Victoria, Bridget McKenzie, called on Labor to allow the National Firearms Agreement review to take place without stirring up unnecessary hysteria, which she said was unhelpful and insulting.  You can read her press release HERE.

If you’d like to let Mr Perrett and his boss know what you think of their attack on law abiding firearms owners, their contact details are reproduced below.  As usual, please keep it respectful.
