SNAP SHOTS British Hunter Killed By Buffalo

In a tragic development in Zimbabwe, a British professional hunter, Owain Lewis, working at a private game reserve, was killed by a  buffalo that had been wounded by a hunter he had been guiding three days before. Lewis’ apprentice managed to kill the animal, whose species is sometimes referred to as “The Widow Maker”.

Any greenie who tells you that big game hunters are cowardly for pursuing their culture should refer them to this very incident. The full account can be seen in the UK Daily Telegraph here.

CANADA’S PUBLIC SAFTY MINISTER ANNOUNCES COMMONSENSE GUN LAWS

Stephen Blaney, the new Canadian Conservative Government’s Public Safety Minister, has announced a raft of updated gun laws which will greatly ease the red tape burdens suffered by their Licenced Firearm Owners. He will also relax restrictions on ownership and importing of some semi-automatic long arms.

The new “Common Sense Firearms Licensing Act” will restrict the powers of provincial police firearms officers to make life difficult for LAFOs. You can readmor about it in the Canadian Sun News report.

Great news for Canucks. Wish it would happen here.

PRESSURE ON SWISS GUN OWNERS

Switzerland has 46 guns for every 100 people, a statistic that is only outdone by the US and Yemen. Themain reason for this high figure is that their male population, by and large, own military firearms stored at home for their compulsory military service and sport shooting is encouraged and widespread. At the same time, their violent crime rate is comparatively very low.

Nevertheless, some left wing politicians have been calling for centralised armory storage. Sound familiar? Just like the Greens and Gun Control Australia’s constant harping agenda. Read more about it on the ozy.com website story.

LIES, DAMNED LIES AND ECONOMICS?

The Shadow Assistant Treasurer, no less, has come out on the topic of post 1996 murder statistics in Australia. He could be excused perhaps for his extremely slanted look at said statistics as he personally knew a Port Arthur victim and he is kind of related to the Hoddle Street killer.

While any savvy gun owner – or for that fact, any person who has read even shallowly into both sides of the”gun law debate”, Australia and almost every developed nation, including the US, has had continual declining murder and violent crime rates since well before 1996 and it is continuing at around the same rate after 1996 as before.

Anyway, you can read Michelle Grattan’s article in “The Conversation”.

Gawd save us from emotionally-challenged Economists who fiddle with statistics.

US MAN JAILED FOR POSTING GUN TO AUSTRALIA IN X-BOX

In a lucrative little sideline, American Adam Bunger (how appropriate) has been incarcerated for illegally exporting illegal guns to willing buyers around the world in electrical appliances. One recalls the gadget man in Get Smart hiding tape recorders in cameras while simultaneously hiding cameras in tape recorders – devilishly clever of both of them, don-cha think?

You can read about it in this report in The Australian.

LATE NEWS – SHOOTERS & FISHERS PARTY REGISTERS IN VICTORIA

In news to hand 12th August, The Shooters and Fishers Party has officially applied for registration with the Federal Electoral Commission to run for election in the Victorian State Elections. With a presence in NSW, WA, NT and Victoria, it looks like the SFP are now a fixture on the Australian political scene and we hope they’ll go from strength to strength looking after the interests of LAFOs. Congratulations SFP.
